Hot Chocolate Bar

I seriously love Hot Chocolate. The thing at our house is to cuddle up and watch a movie while drinking hot chocolate and eating popcorn. We do it mostly in the winter but we have been known to do it in the summer too. Chocolate in drinking form is just amazing!

We did a few things to make a fun little Hot Chocolate Bar. It isn’t a huge elaborate thing, just a few fun ideas. Add your own stuff to make it even more fun.

My kids couldn’t decide between the spoon and the giant marshmallow candy cane. I’m pretty rude and only let them pick one. You could put a little bowl of mini marshmallows and they could pick a spoon and have a few marshmallows along with it.

There really wasn’t a science to making the hot chocolate. I don’t like measuring things out much. Just add and try it. If it needs more chocolate, add more chocolate. If it needs more water, add water. You get the picture. Maybe wait until the actual chocolate has melted to see if you need to add more chocolate powder though.

It doesn’t even require having a party to make this fun. Have it ready in your crock pot or instant pot like we used. I am picturing a snowy day during Christmas break when everyone is in and out of the house while building a snowman or sledding. I’m ready for that magic right about now.

How about you?

HOT CHOCOLATE BAR

Hot Chocolate

Regular hot chocolate mix
Water
Cream
Chocolate

1-Get your crock pot or instant pot out and mix your hot chocolate according to the instructions on the package.
2-Add some cream. This amount will be different according to how much hot chocolate you will be making. I added 1 cup to about 8-10 servings of hot chocolate.
3-Add your chocolate to the pot and mix it around.
4-Let it sit and heat up for about 2-3 hours. If you keep it plugged in throughout your party then it will stay nice and warm.

Dipped Marshmallows

Large Marshmallows
Candy Cane Sticks
White Candy Melts
Crushed Candy Cane

1-Stick your candy cane in your marshmallow and place on a parchment lined sheet pan.
2-Melt your chocolate. Put it in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time until it’s all melted and smooth.
3-Carefully dip your marshmallow in the melted chocolate and dip it in your crushed up candy cane pieces.
4-Place the marshmallows on a parchment paper. It can get tricky getting it to stand up. Eventually ours fell but once they dried they stood up easily.
5-Dip the Marshmallow in your personal mug of hot chocolate and it will melt away giving it a richer and minty flavor.
6-Eat/Drink, Share, Enjoy!

Dipped Spoon

Spoons (you can use any kind, we used plastic spoons)
White Candy Melts
Crushed Candy Canes

1-Melt your chocolate in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time until it’s all melted and smooth.
2-Dip your spoon in the melted chocolate and let it drip off a little. Lay it on a parchment paper.
3-Sprinkle your crushed up candy canes on top and bottom of the spoon and let the chocolate harden.
4-Use the spoon to stir your own hot chocolate. The candy cane and chocolate will melt away giving it a richer and minty flavor.
5-Eat/Drink, Share, Enjoy!
