4th of July Treat

One of my favorite memories growing up was the way we celebrated the 4th of July.

My dad was born and raised in Chile. He moved to the United States after marrying my mom who is from Idaho. He is very patriotic and LOVES the freedoms we enjoy here.

Every 4th of July he would blast patriotic music out of the front room windows and wake the whole neighborhood up. He would invite all the neighbors over and have a flag raising ceremony and little devotional.

After the ceremony he would have a table full of food and we would have relay races around the house doing fun obstacles then run around the block. The winner in their various age groups would win a prize and everyone would go home standing a little taller and being a little more grateful for our country. It’s always more humbling when you see a grown man crying and showing gratitude because he knows the difference and it helps you recognize how blessed we really are.

Because of my dad, the 4th of July is right up there with Christmas for me. We love spending time as a family and the 4th of July is always spent with so much family time.

Family time usually involves lots and lots of food so why not make it fun and give the kids an assignment.

Here is something super fun to eat and share with all your loved ones.

We always start with washing our fruit.

Get your platter together and start adding your fruit and your Flipz White Fudge Covered Pretzels.

Add more fruit, and more pretzels. We did a few layers of pretzels for more food to snack on.
