Pancakes

Do you have a fun family tradition of making pancakes on Saturday mornings? We try to but it doesn’t always happen. This recipe is super simple and easy to make and it doesn’t require a packaged mix.

My kids literally fight over who get to stir all the ingredients. As they get older I get them involved in more and more things. Now the older 2 can pour the batter on the griddle and flip the pancakes with some supervision.

Here is Libby trying to make a heart shaped pancake. I’m not the cool mom that makes fun designs out of pancakes.

Since kids number 5 and 6 have come I have been a little busier and tired so we have pancakes for dinner more often than we have them for breakfast.

It’s a guaranteed way to get the kids to eat their dinner though.

Don’t forget to watch the video for some fun tips and pointers.

I’m such a visual learner that it’s always nice to see how something is made before actually making it.

Pancakes

2 ¼ cup flour
4 tsp. Baking powder
2 ½ Tbsp. sugar
½ tsp salt
2 eggs
2 ¼ cup milk

1-Make sure you have all your ingredients.
2-Clean your work area and wash your hands.
3-*With the help of an adult, turn your griddle on to start getting warm. I set mine to about 350 degrees. If you are doing it on frying pan on the stove, you don’t have to turn it on yet because that will get warm quickly.
4- In one bigger mixing bowl, add the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Mix it a little.
5-In another bowl mix your eggs and milk together.
6-After you have mixed the two, pour the milk and eggs in with the dry stuff (the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt).
7-Mix it until it’s all mixed together. If it still has lumps then that’s okay.
8-Use the measuring cup you used to measure the flour and pour your pancakes using that. I don’t fill the cup full and use about half of a cup for each pancake.
9-Try not to have them touch each other because it will make it harder to flip if they are too big.
10-Once they start to get bubbles on top and they pop, and dry around the edges then you know it’s time to flip them over.
11-Put whatever toppings you like on the pancakes. We like homemade strawberry jam with a buttermilk syrup, I also love peanut butter some some maple syrup. Do whatever you like on top of your pancake.
12-Cook all of the pancakes.
13-Clean up the mess.
14-Eat, Share, Enjoy!
